Coca-Cola Donates $120,000 to Toys for Tots to Help Open Happiness this Holiday Season

Ho Ho Ho. ‘Tis the season for giving! Coca-Cola is making it easy for people to help others have a Merry Christmas with a national online gift drive benefitting Toys for Tots.  From now through December 31, Coca-Cola is spreading happiness by asking people to donate their My Coke Rewards points at, to help generate gifts for underprivileged kids. The goal is to raise five million My Coke Rewards points, which would enable Toys for Tots to put thousands of gifts in the hands of children and teens. In addition, Coca-Cola is donating $120,000 to Toys for Tots which will be divided among eight cities across America.
“Coca-Cola has been an uplifting and magical part of the holiday season for decades, just like Toys For Tots,” said Stuart Kronauge, Vice President, Coca-Cola Trademark Brands, Coca-Cola North America. “With our My Coke Rewards points donation drive, we’re offering people a simple way to support Toys For Tots and celebrate the spirit of giving.  Through the generosity of My Coke Rewards members, together we’ll help make the holidays special for families in need.”
Participating is easy for anyone, anywhere.  Registered My Coke Rewards members can donate their points to Toys for Tots by entering codes found on 13 participating Coca-Cola products at  As the donations accumulate, Toys for Tots will be able to redeem them for gifts such as toys, skateboard helmets and basketballs.

Coca-Cola Spreads Holiday Cheer with Special Events in Eight Cities

In addition to the My Coke Rewards gift drive, Coca-Cola is kicking off the fourth year of its partnership with Toys For Tots with an eight-city toy drive linked to the Coca-Cola Holiday Caravan tour.  The Caravan is made up of five semi-trucks brilliantly illuminated with 25,000 twinkling lights, designed to create a festive wonderland for children and adults alike.  At each Caravan stop/toy drive, Coca-Cola will donate $15,000 to the local Toys For Tots organization, for a total donation of $120,000.  Toy drives/Caravan stops will take place in Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., El Paso, New York City, Atlanta, San Jose, Pittsburgh and Chicago.  The program highlights Coca-Cola’s annual effort to spread cheer and bring families together for the holidays. Two military families to win laptop and Webcams based on powerful essays; Technology prize will help families stay in touch with their soldiers

INDIANAPOLIS – (January 5, 2010) –, a leading e-commerce provider of consumer goods and services, today announces the winners of the Laptops for Flat Tops contest, the company’s fourth and final contest for the families of military men and women currently serving overseas. Alyssa Mineo of Westlake Village, Calif. and Cara Farmer of Norfolk, Va. have each been chosen to receive a laptop with an embedded Webcam (for their families) and an additional Webcam (for their soldiers).

Three judges selected Mineo and Farmer’s essays based on their powerful descriptions of how their families have been affected by having a loved one serving overseas and how a laptop and Webcam would improve communication with their loved one. The judges are Col. (Ret.) Dale A. Kissinger, Scott Davis and Jenna Richards.

Alyssa Mineo is the wife of CPL Kevin Mineo of the United States Marine Corps, who is on his fifth deployment and currently stationed in Afghanistan. This deployment will be exceptionally hard for the Mineo family, as Alyssa is eight months pregnant with their second child due on Jan. 31. They are expecting a baby boy and intend to name him Wyatt. Alyssa and Kevin have a four year old daughter named Faith, and both mother and daughter reside in Westlake Village, Calif.

“I feel very blessed to have been chosen as a winner, says Alyssa Mineo. It means a great deal to me, especially with this deployment because my husband will not be around for the birth of our second child, our first boy. Thanks to having access to a laptop and webcam, I am anticipating that he will be able to see his son instead of receiving pictures a month later. Our four year old daughter is old enough for this deployment to realize how long her Daddy has been gone, and she will be so excited to see her Daddy via webcam. Thank you so much for this opportunity.”

Cara Farmer is the wife of BM2 David W. Farmer, Jr. of the United States Navy, who has been deployed on his second tour of duty in Iraq in June 2009. David and Cara have three children, Destiny, age 7; James, age 5; and Taya, age 3. Cara and the children live in Norfolk, Va.
